POLLEN CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (PCS)
The Pollen Classification System (PCS) automatically identifies well defined structures in the pictures generated by the aeroScope ® .
It is based on the basic software of the aeroScope ® -System and represents the final component of the Microscope Image Accumulation System (MIAS ® )
Process:
Table of detected areas and their classification with in the images
Analysis
>> each image is analyzed
>> detection of empty images
>> detection of air bubbles
Segmentation
>> process of partitioning a digital image into segments
– separating each single pollen
– tracing the contour of each pollen
>> rare problems occur, only if pollen overlap at great parts
Approach
>> model-based algorithm
– pollen are (at least to some degree) circular
– pollen have a typical size – if of similar kind
– pollen show distinct shape and structure by staining
After max 20 min, results from automatic analysis of 600 pictures are listed in a table, easy to be summarized in a second one with e.g. Excel
Table of detected areas and their classification within the images.
Associated Modul 3: Report Tools
Tables with macros to convert the result-tables into a sample related overview.
It may be a counting table listing pollen per image at appropriate position.
